The following exciting Physician Assistant and/or Nurse Practitioner opportunities are available for NYS licensed/registered and NCCPA certified or eligible Physician Assistants, and NYS licensed/registered or eligible Nurse Practitioners. A UPIN number may be required for some positions.

Medicine (#023048) 
Deliver comprehensive patient care for the Division of Hematology/Oncology and the Department of Medicine in their outpatient practices.  Travel to other oncology sites on a regular basis is required.  Previous PA/NP experience (preferably in Hematology/Oncology) and BSN or MSN preferred.

Neurosurgery Services (#022826)                                                  
Provide direct patient care to adult and pediatric neurosurgery patients throughout University Hospital.  Additional responsibilities include:  assessing the health status of neurosurgical patients and diagnosis of medical problems; providing direct medical intervention; providing instruction and counseling to individuals and families in the areas of disease management, crisis intervention, and health promotion and maintenance.  Experience in neurosurgical setting preferred.

Will make rounds on all of the Neurosurgical Service inpatients on their assigned team.  Additional responsibilities include: assessing the health status of neurosurgical patients and diagnosis of medical problems; providing direct medical intervention; providing instruction and counseling to individuals and families in the areas of disease management, crisis intervention, and health promotion and maintenance.  Maintain daily contact with the case manager concerning disposition of neurosurgery patients.  Previous experience in surgical field strongly desired.

Orthopedic Surgery (#025096)
Provide outpatient care to include new patient evaluation and follow-up of existing patients. Obtaining preoperative history and physicals for patients with foot/ankle, total joint and oncology related diagnoses. Administrative work to include phone calls to patients and follow up of diagnostic studies. Inpatient care to include pre- and postoperative assessment. Discharge planning. Provide first assistant support in the operating room.

Surgery-General  (#024952)
Provide direct care in the inpatient and outpatient settings including assessment, diagnostic, implementation and follow-up of plan of care.  Perform history and physical exams for preoperative patients and act as an integral member of a collaborative team to provide comprehensive care to pediatric surgery patients and families.  Experience in wound, ostomy and continence care and OR experience preferred.  PALS, ACLS certified preferred.  MSN preferred.

Surgery-General (#023871) 
Provide comprehensive care to surgical patients. Duties include: direct care in the inpatient and outpatient settings including: assessment, diagnostic, implementation and follow-up of plan of care. Perform history and physical exams for preoperative patients, telephone triage for outpatients.  Three years experience in surgical practice preferred. Experience with wound, ostomy care and OR experience a plus.

Surgery-General (#023549) (Part-Time -- 80%)
Support the ambulatory practice of three vascular surgeons in their weekly out-patient clinics to include assessment, diagnostic implementation and follow-up plan of care. Perform H&P exams, assemble and evaluate pre-procedure testing results and forward with pre-procedure orders. Evaluate and treat patients on an acute basis. Review new patient referrals and order pre-visit testing as necessary. Discharge and management of patients in One-Day Surgery Center. Telephone triage for outpatients. Work in collaboration with health care providers and agencies within the referral area to coordinate care and services. Provide ongoing manage-ment of anticoagulation for vascular patients without primary care support. Evalua-tion of renal function prior to administration of radio contrast media and initiation of treatment if renal insufficiency exists. Clinic activities may include office site away from University Hospital (Oswego).  Experience in surgical practice and Masters Degree preferred.

Surgery-Kidney Transplant – Transplant Coordinators

In collaboration with the attending physicians and surgeons will provide comprehensive health/physical assessments and develop plans of care for Nephrology, Transplant and Surgical patient populations. Initiate interventions, order diagnostic tests, perform physical and lab exams, address abnormal findings, and evaluate patient progress and response to care. Transplant related activities also required to include collaboration with OPO, UNOS, Upstate Collaborative, quality committees and councils.  Transplant Coordinator Certification preferred. Incumbent must be willing to seek and obtain transplant coordinator certification within 2 years. Leadership skills and ability to work in collaboration with Administrative team required.
